I have been wanting to do a portrait of this fellow for a while and here he is. I used a limited palette of Yellow Ocher, Vermillion, Burnt Sienna, French Ultramarine, Raw umber, Ivory Black, and Titanium White. The photo is a old black and white so I had to make up the colors, but the simplified palette made it a lot easier!
The apples are ripening here right now and make a
delicious "summer in the country" lunch. This is the combo we would take to the
hills in Sonoma California for the week ends accept we would stop at that
charming little store on the square and get some great cheese to go with!
This is a nest I have painted before. I found the Robin's egg shell the other day under a tree and have added it along with some of my Boston Ivy on the side of the house. I love all the shades of green it has right now.
Fresh from the Farmer's Market on the square early Saturday morning were these wonderful peppers all tangled up in a basket! I couldn't make up my mind which ones to take home! And are they ever tasty.
This is a leaf of the Nasturtiums from my garden. In early morning I have coffee on the patio in the flower garden. This particular morning was so humid there was a heavy fog and dew drops on every plant! The nasturtium leaves hold the dew so beautifully, they look magical! Actually they look a lot like a water lily. This one is about 3" across.
Found these beauties at the local Farmers Market on the square here. The habanero is the hottest chile pepper you'll find in your local grocery stores, and they are very, very hot. Unripe habaneros are green, but the color at maturity varies. Common colors are orange and red, but white, brown, and pink are also seen.
